Your week will start with an introduction to the course when you will receive your course timetable and materials, Ski Vie Manual, Recipe Book and Stocktake, Shopping List & Accounts Book while enjoying your first Afternoon Tea.
Learning from the off, each morning you will be up with the larks, preparing Afternoon Tea, laying the table, cooking and serving Breakfast, preparing the Evening Meal, clearing Breakfast, cleaning the kitchen and setting out Afternoon Tea. After a quick breakfast on to perfecting your bed making, bathroom cleaning, cushion plumping, vacuuming and dusting...
After all that it’s time for a well-earned break, then to start lessons in the other elements of being a successful Chalet Host. Lunch and more lessons, it will be 'all go' most of the day. A break for Afternoon Tea and some free time then back to the kitchen to cook, serve and clear the evening meal. The week will continue at a fast and furious pace to give you as much training, practise and information as possible. You will have no lessons on one day (the day off for the candidates on Week 1 of the Advanced Chalet Host Course), about 8 hours of free time, but you will still practise your cooking skills, providing Breakfast, Afternoon Tea and the Evening Meal.
This week will be full-on and hard work, allowing you to get the most out of your time with Ski Vie. You will experience the pressure (and fun) of catering for the full menu every day, including Christmas Day. Also, you will be undertaking all the housekeeping, menu planning, stocktaking and shopping in foreign shops involved in running your Chalet day to day and week to week. You will learn efficient methods to deal with; setting up your Chalet, changeover day and deep cleans, paperwork, hosting and managing guests, time management and much more.
You will gain Food Safety & Hygiene Level 2 and have training in Manual Handling and Health & Safety including invaluable in-resort skills such as snow clearing.
This one week course will provide you with the skills needed to be an effective Chalet Host from the start of your season, giving you the confidence to provide excellent service for your guests and allowing you to take full advantage of life in a Ski Resort.
